Whose security?: Building migrant struggles against the national security agenda

Screening:
- People's Commission Popular Education film. Documentary based on public hearings held in spring 2006 by the People's Commission on Immigration Security Measures, with footage from a road-trip to the Laval Immigration Prevention Centre (www.peoplescommission.org). Film is a work-in-progress, with opportunity for feedback.
- Secret Canada, a film by Lillian Boctor and Ryan Mulligan. Documentary on security certificates featuring interviews with Mona El Fouli, Mohamed Harkat, Sophie Lamarche Harkat and Adil Charkaoui.
Other tools from the People's Commission Popular Education kit, including facilitator's guide and comics, will also be available for preview.
The films will be followed by updates on People's Commission witnesses and on Ivan Apaolaza Sancho, a Basque political prisoner who has been held at Montreal's Rivières-des-Prairies Detention Centre since June 2007, under threat of deportation to Spain.
The evening will be an opportunity for consultation on finalizing new popular education material developed by the People's Commission as well as strategy for confronting the national security agenda as targetted migrants and their allies.
